About BTW POETRY JAM 2012

-Join us for an electrifying night, as some of Montreal’s powerhouse performers take to the stage to challenge, inspire and dazzle your mind – and claim the throne as King or Queen!

Compete in BTW’s Annual Poetry Jam 2012:
BTW’s annual poetry Jam summons the Queens and Kings of this vibrant and incisive art form. Join this year’s competition – no experience necessary – for the chance to tell your own story, about what SKIN means to you, to win cash prizes, the status of King/Queen of BTW Poetry Jam 2012 & the opportunity to be a judge next year. The contestants will be judged on creativity, originality and delivery.
Rules
- Each poem must be of the poet’s own construction;
- Each poet gets 3 minutes (plus a ten-second grace period) to recite one poem
- Must have creative connection to the theme
- The poet may not use props, costumes, or musical instruments
Deductions
- 2 points will be taken off of final score for anytime over the 10 second grace period
- 1 point will be taken off for content not connecting to the theme
Scoring
- Of the scores the poet received from the five judges, the high and low scores are dropped and the middle three are added together, giving the poet a total score of 0-30.
