How can a new mother connect with her child when the bond with her own mother has been broken?
Black Theatre Workshop presents its annual Discovery Series, a staged reading of the play Quiet by Lydie Dubuisson.
At Eight months pregnant, Clara sends her fiancé away on a fishing trip in anticipation of some quiet time with her baby before its arrival.
But their time together is anything but quiet, and leads Clara to examine her troubled and estranged relationship with her own mother. Featuring a live 3-member gospel choir, Quiet explores the intimate bond between mother and child, of journeying through one’s past in search of forgiveness and redemption.
This one woman play, directed by Michelle Soicher and starring Dayane Ntibarikure, will be presented on Monday, May 14, 7.30pm at the MAI Café – 3680 rue Jeanne-Mance. A pay what you decide event, we invite you to stay for our talk-back with the cast and director following the reading.
